Most recent, still "testing" on hogs and soon to be whitetail doe culls......

Sako S20 6.5 PRC, 139 Lapua Scenar running 3070, Arken EPL4 6-24x50, Optilock rings. Killer combo so far. It shoots Norma 143 Bondstrike factory ammo into 1" clusters at 300 yds (5 shots) when the wind isn't blowing too bad.

That's not at all what I said. I said I think 10 shot groups at one sitting to be worthless for a big game hunting rifle. IF I were inclined to see what a 10 shot group looked like for a specific load/rifle, I would be more inclined to shoot either 1 cold bore shot over 10 different days at the same target, or maybe 5 different days of 2 shots. Even at that, I think 10 shot groups for big game hunting are a complete waste of time and ammo. Especially given the fact that 95%+ of all big game animals are killed under 300 yards.
You should go back and read what you wrote, taken as a whole, it is inconsistent. Compare the bold above to this statement of yours:
I've never experienced this cold bore shift either, and agree it's a myth,...
Believing something is VBS then advocating for it anyway makes ones judgement highly questionable.

I don't understand what's inconsistent about it at all.
Believing "cold bore shift" is "a myth," but preferring "1 cold bore shot over 10 different days" or "5 different days of 2 shots."

Why the preference?

Given that you agree cold vs hot bore POI shift is a myth, it cannot be due to a cold bore being better. Your belief that larger groups are not needed is inmaterial as you still voiced a preference.

I already answered that earlier.......

Why? Because I have zero interest in sitting down and shooting a 10 shot group, because, once again, I never have and never will shoot 10 consecutive shots at a big game animal, ever. I will shoot 10 cold bore shots at different big game animals every single year. Why practice something you will never, ever do?

Just curious. Do you care if your rifle is a 1, 2, 3, etc. MOA rifle?

Absolutely. I have no tolerance for inaccurate rifles. Must be sub MOA no matter what for me to hunt with, even though a 2MOA rifle will kill deer easily out to 400 yds or so when the wind cooperates.

My 50 yr old Marlin 336 30-30 is about 2 MOA and still crushes pigs, even with the Weaver K4 that sits on it.

My response can't possibly be more simple and easy to understand. Please remind me why your opinion has any bearing on what I'm doing?

So? What is it then?

If you had to pick one factory rifle, scope, mounting system, and chambering what is the secret recipe?

I like those rifles and chamberings. Nice choices there.

It has the same bearing as your comments here. What, or how you sight in has nothing to do with whether there is or is not a cold bore/hot bore shift- which is the discussion here.

No one cares how you zero, nor why you do or do not use “x” amount of rounds to do so. This was technical conversation, not a “JGRaider likes” conversation.

Thanks. I'm pretty much over the magnum craze I was in for about 30 years. I find myself shooting the other 3 almost exclusively nowadays, and mostly that 7-08. If I ever go back to Africa I will take the 7mag though.
