Figured someone might know on here before I ask a local FFL. I currently live in a state next to CO, if I wanted to gift/sell a lower (serialized) or complete rifle (serialized) to a relative residing in CO what is the best and LEGAL way to do it?

Am I able to transport said item across state lines and 'gift' it to them hand to hand? (Since they are considered an 'immediate' family member. (See link below) If I lived in CO I believe I could just not sure since I am out of state.

Thanks for assistance. This new law in CO that they are trying to push through is crappy and just want them to be 'grandfathered' in incase it happens.

Do it in person if they fall into the immediate family group.

"If you are selling to a non-immediate family member, a background check must be done by an FFL (Federal Firearm Licensee). However, immediate family members do not need background checks done to transfer firearms between one another. The firearm should not be transferred to any family member who is prohibited from purchasing and/or possessing firearm. Immediate family is defined as spouses, parents, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, first cousins, aunts, and uncles (in-laws do not apply). (CRS 18-12-112)"
