Co activity?

I was down south of Gunnison this past weekend and it was still very warm, but as I was leaving weather was blowing in. It looks like there is rain/snow through Wednesday for the southwest part of the state before it warms back up again. I didn't hear any bugling this trip. Hopefully we get some action following the storm!

Not me, I'd prefer a bit of snow friday evening.

I'd prefer to have the elk bugling their brains out, which is what usually happens when you have hot dry weather leading up to 1st rifle season. Once it snows or turns colder, that all goes away usually and it's back to spot and stalk tactics instead of the fun hunting.

I'm taking my daughter up, I'm hoping for some bugling. With a rifle, shouldn't be an issue sealing the deal if they're still responding to bugling. Either way, I'm going to have some awfully excited and then seriously disappointed hunters out there, when they finally close in to see it's me bugling.

Lots of bugeling the last couple years with snow on the ground opening morning. Wont break my heart if theyre more vocal in the dry heat but I still prefer to drop them on a nice cool day. Wish her luck for me.

It looks like it's going to warm right back up in my area starting Friday. Sunny with highs in the mid 60's and lows in the mid 30's for the entire forecast.

Just got back from a 76 early rifle hunt and elk were still right at timberline and rutting hard. We were on 20 bulls in 2 days and I called in 7 bulls the first day of the hunt to under 50 yds.

Sounds like you found the right place !! I leave Friday morning for my Rifle hunt in units 78,81 ! Hope to hear some bugles, and get some cold weather !! 88 degrees expected here in New Orleans today- I Hate this heat- Where is the COLD ????

This a good thing?

For me.......if my daughter and I were the only ones out there I'd say it was great news. But the unknown factor is always other hunter pressure. And I'm sure the better the weather, the better the access for most folks, so the more people in the field. I'm getting tired of calling elk in for other people that I'm not hunting with.

The last weekend of archery was the hottest days all season (around 90 on the front range), and the elk were going berserk. Hoping for the same this weekend.
