I don’t have quite the deluxe crampons but hoping the yak trax or snowshoes serve me well, hunting by a buddies house so will have a good report on conditions come Friday

YakTrax are for meant icy sidewalks, under load they tend to slip underfoot especially in snowy mud or steep slopes. They also tend to get pulled off your feet by brush, leading to fun backtracking when you realize you're down one. Treat yourself to an early Christmas gift, I use these more than I do snowshoes. I would rather have these than trekking poles, they are that much of a game changer.

Micro spikes are a good intermediate between yaktracks and crampons. Still get a spike for traction on ice and wet logs, but dont have to deal with the long tines catching on pants and whatnot.
