ive had the sawtooth and paratipi, megatarp and the cimarron, Right now im using the cimarron and i use the black diamond carbon fiber adjustable pole, works great . the megatarp is larger for upright room and pricier, but cimmaron is lighter and still has quite a bit of floor space for 2 guys and gear and at a great price . Here is link for carbon fiber pole http://blackdiamondequipment.com/en...light-mid-cf-spare-pole-BD0812230000ALLS.html

lol I did the same thing! Was contemplating the LBO for its modularity or the cimmeron because its taller. ended up with the BCS2 plus the Grande panel. Same modularity but with room to stand.

If its cold/wet then I want a stove and I want stand up room.

If I'm trying to get UL while solo in moderate weather ill revert back to square tarps. Anything else.ill pay the weight for the BCS

Yeah man, actually wish I had gone with the BCS ;) Its so hard if you're not able to see them all next to each other. Wish I had taken a trip to Grand Junction to check'm out before dropping so much cash. Ah well. Im happy enough though, I might sell this LBO off next spring to pick up a bigger setup and pick up a Jimmy's Tarp shelter or something if I want to go minimal solo

I went with the LBO and am very happy. There's plenty of room for 2 people, gear and dog. Without bringing the dog I'd have room for a stove. As far as standing room goes in a tent... I set my LBO after the sun goes down and try to have it packed before the sun comes up so standing standing room isn't really needed.

I have a jimmy tarp and Borah bivy for solo trips and couldn't be happier. I sometimes bring the tarp when I bring my LBO just to throw up and hang out under in case of rain showers.

Nice, good to know. The big test for the LBO for me will be during rifle when I've got 2 and a stove in there. I guess Im really only "projecting" the want to be able to stand. Maybe I wont mind haha.

Have you ran a stove in your LBO?

I haven't got a stove and my plans to purchase it are being put on hold. I'm an archery hunter, use tarp and bivy when solo, and LBO for summer scouting trips with the wife. If I was every going to do a rifle hunt in a place where the weather would be poor and I know I wouldn't be moving camp everyday, I'd buy a stove for the LBO.

Cool. I'll be running the LBO base solo most of september for archery, unless major rain the forcast then I may take the vestibule also. But I've got an Ed T stove on order for 1st rifle, and 2nd rifle, both of which Im going with a buddy up there and figured I'd like a stove for those long dark nights and lower temps.

For sure, its a tough call making decisions from written dimentions. You're almost bound to wish you had something different.

I want to make a call out to everyone to post up pics of their shelters with someone and some gear inside them. It's a much better reference than a pic of an empty shelter in a grove of trees. I'm not really sure why the MFG's havent done this already.

Kifaru used to have a pic of all their packs worn by the same guy With his listed dimensions. But all the shelters are sneak peak pics from odd angles.

It's not too hard to set up and snap a few pics. Use photo bucket to put a sticker over your face if you're in witness protection lol . I don't care what your face looks like I just want to see a body and gear in a tent

I'm requesting a shot of a guy standing up in/next to the SO LBO. I'm 6'5 so I know I'm SOL for standing straight up, but I have given up on that dream unless I take a huge shelter, which doesn't make too much sense as a primarily solo hiker. Just would be nice to get an idea of size.

I might have some time to throw it up and get a shot of me next to it. I'm 6'2", it'll give you an idea, theres no way to stand up inside. Theres def enough room inside for you though. I'll get a few reference shots

I've been pleased with my LBO so far. Not only can you use the base as a tarp if you want, but you can also rig up the vestibule itself as a tarp for ultralight, ultra fast trips when it's not likely to rain but you need something just in case or to keep the dew off your bag. I'm only 5'7", so I can fit my wife and daughter in with me. It's a bit heavier than listed, but still pretty light. Easy to set up, but takes practice to get a really good pitch.
