Chronograph. Go cheap or invest heavy?

which S&S model do you like?
I've used them most for their bow sights, specifically their custom Black Gold's.

The only "modern" chronograph Ive used is the Garmin Xero and the Lab Radar. Don't waste your time on the Lab Radar its too big and too glitchy to setup compared to the Garmin and possibly now the Athlon.
S&S doesn't have a deal on the Garmin right now but you might call them and ask if they can price match, they are cool like that.

notjustguns.com has a Garmin Xero for $474... Hard to say no

I wouldn’t waste the money on a Caldwell. I have one and couldn’t even put myself to selling it, I’d feel guilty. Idk if I got a lemon but it’s the biggest pos out of any electronic device I’ve ever had. I have a magneto that works pretty good but will be getting a Garmin for convenience and for bows

I used the labradar starting out and fought it every time I used it. Used the straw sighting method on top as well as a microphone trigger system and was a pain when shooting suppressed. Been using the Garmin since and it never misses. Best investment ever.

Stoked to get mine. I’ve not heard one bad thing

If you use the chronograph 3x per year, cheap caldwell should be just fine but if you’re using it to measure accuracy of your hand load often then get a nice radar like garmin

Where does everyone think the Athlon chrome (Garmin competitor) will rank? Seems to be accuracy and portability of the Garmin with the cost of the Labradar or Magnetospeed

I have a magnetospeed sport that works well, but I have used the Garmin. It was nice being able to set it up in my shooting room and not have to mess with it.

I have the Labradar, lots of people complaining about them. I must be lucky, think mine has missed maybe 1 or 2 out of a hundred shots. If it isn't recording the shot, it's been something on my part. Sure a smaller unit would be nice, been happy with my Labradar and not going to get rid of it anytime soon.

Has anyone even been able to try one? Or is it all just speculation?
