Well with some good luck catching it on sale at Cabela's and a few extra 22rifles I inherited from my grandpa that I traded towards I came home with my mountain goat/black bear rifle for BC this Sept. A Christensen Arm classic carbon in 300 Win Mag. Today was spent breaking it down and throughly cleaning the action and barrel in preparation for load development. Bought 100 Nosler cases and with 300 Berger Hybrid 215 ready to roll. All I need is a set of NF ultra light rings to mount the 2.5-10x42 scope and then load development will begin. Pleasantly surprised I was able to load the bergers to where they will fit in the mag box but also very close to the lands and not seated extremely deer into the case. Also spent today mounting the pic rail up front for my Modular evolution Evo pod and also did away with the sling studs and installed flush cups. Pretty excited to get this thing shooting. I'll continue to update this thread as load development progresses.

So my NF UL rings showed up today

Got the little 2.5-10x42 mounted up nice and level

Now it's time to load some of these up and find some goat/bear sleeping pills.

Well after a couple different bullet combos and some headache I've been able to finally go from no better that a 2.5 inch group @ 100 yards down to an .860 group. I tried and tried to get the 215 Berger Hybrids to shoot but just couldn't. Then I moved on to the 200 Grain Barnes LRX. Although they showed some improvement over the Bergers I was still not happy. I decided to give the Barnes 168 TTSX a try and my groups really shrunk. This is not the bullet I really wanted to settle on but I have killed a lot of animals with the 168 TTSX and have had excellent results. And I am not setting this rifle up for a long range rifle. I am strong this up more for a mid range Goat and bear rifle out to 4-500 yards max. So I feel my bullet choice will work great. Here is a few pics of my target with the TTSX. Going to play with the COAL a little and see if I can shrink these groups some.

Load Data is
Nosler Brass
Federal 215 M
80 gr of Retumbo
COAL 2.832 to ogive
Barnes 168 TTSX

Best group yet.

That's all the better my classic carbon ever shot. Three bullets, four powders, and two kinds of primers I only found two loads that would shoot around the 3/4 MOA mark, but they held around 3/4 MOA out to 700 yards.

Finally figured it out. Now if this load is consistent I'm good. Load is as follows

Nosler Brass
80 Gr retumbo
168 Barnes TTSX

Here is the results
