Purchased a slightly used Christensen Ridgeline 300WM. Gun has 80 rounds through it. Loaded up some 189 Hammers in new Nosler brass with 7828ssc. Started at 74 grains ( I was getting around 3000fps). After my first group I began to have extraction problems. The bolt would lift easily, but I had to really work to get the spent casing out--and I mean REALLY work. Came home and messed with it a bunch. Each time I put the spent casings back in the chamber I would have the same problem. So I FL resized the cases and BAM!!! Problem solved. They ran through easily. Any thoughts???

You didn’t mentioned if your nosler brass was new and whether you sized it or not. Perhaps a slightly tight chamber and the belt area of the brass expanded while firing. Have you reloaded and fired your once fired brass yet to see if you still have a problem. Not assuming anything but in your FL sizing did you check your headspace and only bumped shoulder .002? Buddy has same gun and shoots Berger 215’s lights out.

New Nosler brass that I FL resized. I just ran the sizing die per the directions on the first round since it wasn't fired. I aim to bump it back after I shoot it.

Assuming no pressure signs? As noted above , getting measurements of your sized and fired brass would tell you if you just need to make some adjustment with your sizing die.

This is the exact reason why I ditched belted magnums. If you have a tight chamber a standard FL die won't size close enough to the belt and may require a collet die to get it back to where it will chamber and extract easily.

You have a tight chamber ,Long range only websight/forum has a thread on this issue they also have a chamber reamer that fixes it it's also a problem with the 6.5 prc and 300 prc

I had this issue with my Mesa. After the chamber got a little dirty, I couldn't extract rounds. During my last elk hunt, after I dropped the elk, I had to literally beat the bolt open with my fist to get the case out. I sent the rifle in to Christensen and they polished the chamber but I haven't shot it yet to tell if if it's any better or not.
