Choosing a Unit in Colorado

Good morning. Texas resident here looking to spend more time hunting deer, elk, and Antelope in Colorado. This year I would like to use my 3 points on a MD hunt. The last couple weeks I have been overwhelmed with picking a unit. I have hunted Elk twice in 521 years back with no success and thought about keep going back since I'm somewhat familiar with the unit but would like to pick a unit that's a little easier to get to from Texas. I would like to take 1 or 2 trips for scouting prior to hunting. My goal is to pick a unit that would also be a decent unit for elk as well for next year or year after. I want to learn an area and stick to it. I have a couple units in mind around Gunnison or south of there, just not sure. I think I found my unit, then second guess it. I know some say just pick one and go. I want a unit where I can stay mobile with either truck camping or using my camper and side by side for running around. I don't mind hiking off the beaten path to get away from pressure but not looking to backpack hunt at this time.

Anyway, thought I'd ask the pro's here for opinions / insight.

Thanks.

I don't think you're drawing the Gunnison units with three points.

Find a draw odds website, or sort through the draw recap on the CPW site. Figure out what you can actually draw first.

What they said. Look at the Drawn Out At Report, its easier than using the Draw Recap, and list the units you can draw. Pick from there. If you have 3 pts going in I would look at units that took 2 points.
