Looking for a child carrier pack for my one year old daughter and hopefully another kid or two.

I hate working on the road all week then leaving the family to go scouting all Saturday then leaving Sunday afternoon again for work.

Or even walking the archery course or family fishing.

It would be sweet if Kifaru could make something for a Duplex frame. Then a person could use their child's weight to train.

I carried my oldest daughter in my old Tenzing and she thought it was a lot of fun lol. But that's not very kid friendly lol.

I have the middle Osprey model. Can't remember the name, but there's one that's bare-bones, and one that has a detachable day pack with it. I have the one in between those two, with a decent amount of storage and the actual kid part of it; the harness and kid area are really well-done. Complete with sunshade and stirrups for the kid to stand on when they're of age.

I am using an older Kelty carrier that I got at a yard sale. I have used it for all three of my kids and it has worked great. My youngest, 2 yrs old, loves going for rides. We are going on a road trip this summer (Banff, Glacier, Yellowstone) and it will be used extensively. My friend has an osprey and it is much nicer, but also 5x the cost of mine. Great investment to buy for your first kid then use until they all grow out of it.

I've got an Osprey Poco plus child carrier. What I do is strap that pack to my tactical duplex and its the best of both worlds. My son (30lbs 2 year old) is comfortable, and I am comfortable with the duplex. I have also done this with a MR NICE frame, kuiu icon pro frame, MR Bighorn, and older style Duplex. Basically all you need is horizontal compression straps and it holds like the were sewn together.

We have the Deuter Kid Comfort II. It's pretty nice. Has a storage compartment, place for a water bladder, a kick stand, stirrups for the kid, and a nice suspension that is adjustable for height. We also have a sunshade and rain cover for it, but I think those were extra. We were able to find a pretty good deal on one as they are fairly expensive. I looked at the Ospreys as well and they are nice, but the Deuter was more comfortable to me.

I have and use osprey's middle level carrier. Living in the desert the sun shade is a must.
I have used it a lot for about two years and it's still going strong.

I was thinking about this the other day....kid carrier attachments might make it easier for those guys with kids to convince their wives to let them spend 500+ on a hunting pack ;)

I have an Osprey brand child carrier, but my 2 year old son gets antsy when he sits too long. Both of us prefer to just have him stand up inside of the Kifaru pack that I am using. It's a loaner pack for now, but I am sure that it's secondary use as a child carrier will help to convince the wife that it's worth the price when I break down and buy one!

We used the Deuter Kid Comfort for many years, but check sizing she may be too small for it at 1yr. Not only does it have a comfortable, adjustable suspension for you, but the kid section is an adjustable seat as opposed to a sling, which we felt was better for long sits. Two essential accessories are the rain cover/sun cover, and a mosquito net.

I have the osprey and its comfy for the kid but not so great for the adult. It's ok but I wouldn't want to carry it all day. It puts about half the weight on your shoulders. My son falls asleep in it every time I use it or I would probably get rid of it

This

I strapped a light carrier- this one (tough traveler montana model)
KidSYSTEMS: MONTANA

To my duplex frame- super easy- using no extra straps or buckles than what comes on the duplex. The thing carries like a dream and my 3 year old absolutely loves it. Gave me a great reason to get a new duplex for my hunting frame!!!

We have the Phil and Teds escape. While i like the design, the removable sun shade is awesome and it seems well built we rarely use it because it doesnt fit me at all. They definitely dont make these with a tall dad (im 6'6") in mind.

Probably put it on the market soon.

I had the Kelty for my first child. It sucked, never could get the weight distributed to my hips. We got the middle of the line Osprey for our second child, and that one is lightyears ahead of the Kelty

The newest Osprey (Poco AG) line is pretty nice. The kid harness and sun shade are really well done. The belt works fine up to 30-35 pounds. I'd like to see them make two frame sizes, I have a 21" torso and the frame height is just barely adequate.

For backpacking I strap it to my Seek Outside Revolution, with gear sandwiched in between the two. Awkward, but gets the job done: here and here.
