Child Carriers

I normally don't comment on this stuff but in this case I feel compelled.

I have the Osprey Poco, the rather bare bones version. I looked and looked and couldn't find a sunshade to buy as an accessory after the initial purchase. I contacted Osprey to see if they could recommend a retailer and they offered and sent me one for free, even though I was willing to pay for one. I have several Osprey products and it looks like I'll be buying more in the future. What a better-than-ideal customer service experience.

Kelty Journey 2.0 is what we used. I liked it a little extra space for kids necessities and such and its pretty stable weighted down. We had an older Kelty until my wife slipped slammed the pack into a rock and snapped the frame in the bottom of the pack. Needless to say one call to Kelty and they said it shouldn't have done that, and sent us the journey free of charge. The old pack was 3 years old when we called them.

I suppose liability issues will keep Kifaru from ever making one that attaches to their frame...............

We have an L.L.Bean that we got cheap off ebay. It works but it reminds me what it's like to not have any lift. It has a lumbar pad but because of the material it's made of it just smashes down and slides until the shoulder straps are carrying the weight.

Kodiakfly, sorry this is two weeks late. I just strap the osprey frame to my K frame.

When I line them up to be attached I start with the top grab handle on both.

Here is a closer look at where I strap it.

I second the Tough Traveler brand of child carriers. They will carry a much larger size kid than most of the others, and are pretty bare bones, making it ideal to strap onto my duplex frame. I love this system.
