ran some 520's the last couple of years. I love the boot, my only complaint is that I need a new pair now- for me they wore way too quickly. They now leak and the rand has separated in multiple spots. I am by no means hardcore- probably put 100-150 miles on them per year- sheep, goat and elk terrain. Personally I am moving on from them. but damn comfortable boots, never a blister.

Been wearing Asolo boots for probably 15-20 years now. Mostly because they just fit my foot so good. I've had several models over the years and my most recent pair are the Avalon's. My "go to" boot for hiking & backpacking. Use them for hunting too depending on the terrain and conditions. No complaints, I think they are great boots!

The solamon quest and the Asolos are two very different boots.

I've worn the 520 for 15 years. Great boot for me. No problems with failure, although several people on REI give them horrible reviews because the soles have come unglued. This may be a new problem???

Regardless, you need a boot that fits YOUR foot and your needs. Buy the boots that fits you.

I started wearing Asolo after they won "best boot" in Backpacker gear review about 10 years ago...I liked them, only problem is they didn't last long at all. Not to say I'm not willing to give them a try again....

I have been wearing them for 4 years now. Work, around town, hunting, backpacking they do it all. I wear the cheaper models as an every day shoe and save my powermatics for backpacking and hunting. I have bought both pairs from sierra trading post for very good prices. Wait for them to send out an extra 30% off type coupon and you will pay less than 1/2 price.

Wore the TPS 520 for many years as my chukar/big game boot. Damn comfortable boot but as others have already said they didnt hold up for very long. The toe of the boot would get pretty chewed relatively fast in rocky country. Dont know why they never put a rubber rand on that boot. Switched over to Lowa and have never looked back.

I had the same experience. Dang comfortable boots, but they wore out a little faster than I thought they would. They took a dump on me in Montana this year and I had to come back to town and get a new pair of boots to finish the hunt.

I have the Powermatics and they tear up my feet. I can't wear them in the mountains. I had quite a few miles on them before I took them to the mountains and at the end of the first day they blistered me pretty bad. If you are hunting in a lot of steep rocks sole durability is an issue. I came home after 2 weeks with multiple pieces of missing sole. Several of the tread pieces were torn off.

My biggest beef with the boot is traction. They are like wearing a pair of ice skates on mud or wet rocks. It there is a light covering of snow they are dangerous if you are in steep terrain.

Mine never leaked but due to fit issues and the soles I just wear them for training hikes around home on dry ground only. They have a terrible sole.

Haven't had any issue with the durability of the upper on my 520's, but the sole came unglued after 300 miles or so. I'm having them reglued now. I also have a pair of powermatics, and don't have many miles on them yet. That said, the Powermatic is tons easier to lace properly and worth the extra money. As an aside, I had a pair of Asolos resoled at Rocky Mtn Resole in Salida CO, and that was the absolute worst customer service I've ever had. Never, ever again will I mess with those folks.

Don't have a ton of experience with them, do have some Powermatic 100s that are nice. A little heavier boot with stiff sole, love the mini pulleys in the lace system. Make tightening the boots very comfortable and removal a breeze.

I am like CoHi, have been wearing them for the last 10-12 years. I have the fugitive and the Drifter. Asolo is the best fit I have found for my foot. I wanted to love my Zamberlans but they just don't fit the same. I have had no issue with quality, they are well made.

I bought a pair off STP and wore them for weeks in Montana and colorado last year. Not sure of the model name. Extremely comfortable for my foot. No blisters or problems. Going to use them for training this year. Will not hesitate to buy another pair of Asolo.

I did end up getting a pair of asolo but were not the 520 that I was looking at. I found some of the power matic boots on STP for a steal and bought them. Got them in yesterday and been wearing them all day today and so far I really like them
