My question is: can I swap multiple barreled actions in and out of a chassis set up and maintain accuracy if properly torqued every time? Would be really handy to be able to swap a coyote caliber for an elk caliber and maintain a physical familiarity or something along those lines

I was thinking short actions.. 204, 6 creed and a 300wsm.. would be nice until I could afford good stocks for em all lol

you should be good if they are all the same action as well, if you have a rem 700, savage 110, and a tikka, it wouldn't work, but all short action rem 700's for example, you would be fine (same action and action length)

I have basically what you are planning with a tikka in a xlr chassis. I went with a WTO switchlug rather than torquing barrels on and off but either should work. I have a 22 creed, 6.5 creed, .223 and plans for a 300 wsm in the future. One scope and stock to get comfortable with is nice. I didn't want to deal with possibly removing the scope every time I wanted to switch barrels so the switchlug made life easy.

Not something I've personally messed with but I would do a lot of experimenting to validate zero retention if swapping in and out.

I know a lot of PRS guys bed their comp rifles in chassis because of occasional issues with losing zero.

I could see the zero retention being a possible issue but I have had zero issues with it. Mine is strictly a hunting setup. If it changes zero any it has been within my margin of error up to this point.

Do you take yours out of the chassis even to switch barrels?

I was mainly referring to checking zero after switching barreled actions in and out of the chassis but used a different scenario to illustrate how some people worry about zero shift even without removing the action.

I do not. Thanks for the clarification. I could see that being more difficult to consistently do than spinning barrels on and off.

I rarely have a point of impact shift when moving my barreled actions between my MPA and MDT chassis. Just make sure you torque it down the same and keep that recoil lug bumped to the chassis and you should be GTG.
