CFE 223

I managed to get 3 lbs of CFE 223 for. well, my 223 the other day. I've never loaded it before and have bullets on hand from 62 gr-77 gr. Any pointers?

Be careful with temp sensitivity. I have a great 308 load at 40deg but at 75deg it shows heavy pressure with lapua brass.

I just started using CFE223 for .223 and am perplexed at the low velocities using Hodgdon's load data. I chrono'd a 27.5gr load, 16" barrel, 55gr Hornady fmjbt , at 2824fps - which is about 200fps lower than expected. The temp was 35*f.

My rifle normally follows published velocities for other powders (adjusting for barrel length). But not with CFE223 so far.

Hodgdon's book max is 27.8gr for ~52k psi. I've found other reloaders going to 28.5gr to hit 3000fps. I can hit 3000fps with TAC and 8208xbr so I don't know what to think about CFE223 yet.
