Carrying a rifle barrel up or down?

I've heard but not tried that water balloons work great. I would also think that balloons for balloon animals might be better as they are longer. I'm going to give it a try this year. You can pick up a pack of 25 for next to nothing.

Anyone else ever run this?

Sounds like it would work.

And you can probably get balloons in any color of the rainbow. I can get barrel condoms to match my tie!

As a young kid my dad made me carry my rifles muzzle down because when you are only 4 feet tall with a rifle slung on your shoulder, the barrel is often pointing up at an adults chin, if they are nearby. In the military we carried our rifles muzzle up when they were casually slung but down when we were on patrol. Now when I hunt, especially with a muzzleloader I carry the muzzle up with a large foam earplug in the barrel. If I need to take a shot I simply grab the the little orange string that i leave about 3 inches attached to it and pull it out. Keeps the dust, dirt and water out.
