Carry rifle on SG packs

I use the sg sling. Been on my pack for three years; I like it. Holds it snug and I can get at the rifle in a second without having to remove the pack. My only complaint is the strap used to quickly release the gun is too short. Easy fix though.

Whats the hook you mentioned?

There is also a similar product called a sling stud but with the hook you can adjust ride height with no pack modification.

You. A see in this photo how the hook grabs your sling. The sticky backing on the mountaineer sling also helps. You can obviously full attach your rifle to your pack but you aren’t getting it off quick and I had no pistol actively looking for Grizz. We were around sow and cubs most days.

Perfect. Thank you!

I use the bottom half of the SG sling and one of the pack straps around the barrel.

The first trip I used the SG quick release strap I accidentally grabbed it while taking my pack off and my rifle slammed into the ground. No more of that.

I really like my SG sling too. I recently purhcased a bipod for my rifle so we'll see how it works with the bipod if that gets in the way at all.

Also, it does seem to ride high hiking through any kind of brush. I'll probably strap it to the back of my pack for hikes in the dark either up or down the mountain and keep it in the sling during the day.
