CarbonSix ECM Barrel Review

I got busy and forgot about this thread. C6 told me to slow down on posting about it. They weren't quite ready yet. This barrel is very accurate with a handful of factory offerings I have fed it. She also seems to be fast.

Hopefully they can shrink their 1 year lead time. My only complaint with my 223AI prefit was that it had almost no throat; Max COAL with a 77 TMK was shorter than my stock Tikka 223. I complained and they quickly turned around reaming out more freebore.

I wish they would post the freebore specs on their cartridges. This new process looks promising but I'm kind of over the carbon fiber barrel wrapping fad - give me a light hybrid contour.

Good to hear. It seems like almost all C6 barrels seem faster than other barrels. They could be on to something innovative with these ECM barrels.

I know it was hinted that the ECM process could be used to make a gradual start for the bullet into the lands, to avoid blowing bullets on high velocity stuff, but am I wrong in thinking that would lead to less barrel life? My thought would be that more gradual startup for the rifling would mean it would burn out faster.

Ramping the grooves could potentially stretch the pressure peak. Combine that with gain twist and it gets interesting.

It’s not much different than a +P treatment. Which seems to take about 100 rounds of life off the barrel.
