Yesterday I Found an arrow that I had put on the rail on my fence above my target…not sure what I did to forget it was up there but my question is, does carbon sun rot? Or deteriorate due to exposure to UV? The vanes and label are discolored. It’s one of my elk arrows so would have had to be up there in the sun since before September of last year…thought about just “givin er hell tinker bell” and shootin it but didn’t want a hand full of carbon splinters lol Anybody shot a sun bleached arrow with no problems before? Or would ya toss it?

Thanks guys

No experience, but be interesting to put on a spine tester to see if it deteriorated on a side.

I know fiberglass fence posts come apart, make lovely splinters.

I wouldn't shoot it, just incase it did break down.

I do not know the answer to your question, but what I do know is that it is not worth it to find out.
Ha, no kidding

Or you could try it and let us all know how it works out? Grin

The carbon is fine but the resins they use to bond the carbon are affected by UV. My guess is it would take a long time to break down those resins- many years.

Flex it and see, only way to know for sure. I found an arrow out at the club that had passed through a target about a year later, sat out in the New Mexico sun, faded vanes rusty point but shaft looked normal.

Flexed it a bunch and am now shooting it.

Try at your own risk!
