Capping windage turret on SWFA fixed power scopes

Have any of you put a rubber cap on the windage turret on your SWFA scope? My new Tikka is ejecting brass into the turret, which occasionally sends it bouncing back into the chamber. I've had to go with some really high rings to make it work. I'd love to get the scope mounted a little lower.

Could capping the windage turret be a solution? For those of you who have done it, what did you use? Do you find it to be a solid long-term setup that can hold up to abuse?

After a couple of weeks with the 6x42 Gen2 it occurred to me that it might be possible to cut and re-thread a factory turret cap so it just covered the exposed brass bits.

I got this from another post, well, the starting idea, but I believe I improved it. The previous person mentioned putting a leg cap over the threaded exposed/ cut threaded area. I tried that but it was realllly hard to remove. Then I figured I could butcher the older cap and place a slightly larger cap over it. I think it works great. Wanted to share with others.
