Nice that it works for you. In my circumstances as a father of young children, I don’t find the prospect of living in the US system very appealing.

Sounds like you are living in the right country. Love this picture of your dictator.

America certainly isn’t for everyone. If you watch the news you’d swear that your safer in Afghanistan, every teacher is a pedophile & cops walk around beating/shooting people for no reason. In reality that’s not the case. America isn’t perfect, far from it & that’s the beauty in it. You can do & be whatever you want and live as you see fit within the law. All while being able to say what you want, own firearms & have RIGHTS. Personally, I’ll take an imperfect freedom over anything.

This thread took a weird turn that was not intended.

I was hoping we could beat up Nickelback a little and bond over Trailer Park Boys and Letterkenny while all agreeing that Rush is awesome.

OK I hate Nickkelback because I hate that whole genre or actually I just dismiss it as boring. Rush is ok…. Bruce Cockburn and Kathleen Edwards are Canucks that make music I like.

people get overly sensitive about the countries they live in i think and get on the defensive easily. I got no love for the liberals and their leader in our country, its sickening what they are doing right now, i think Americans and Canadians can agree we dont much care for the leadership in either of our countries.

After living in America for a few years about 10 years ago and living & being a Canadian my assessment is as follows:

-Canadian dictatorship of liberal government sucks balls, big balls. Seriously a lot of us wanna move down there.
-Americans love their guns, it’s at another level of all other countries
-I can delete my diesel truck in Canada easy peasy, I guess the EPA has you guys by the balls down there?
-Big game hunting in Canada is better minus Elk & Mule deer
-drinking age of 21 is a joke in USA
-American girls love Canadians and Canadian girls love Americans
-The ability of buying booze, ammo, baby formula at one store is a huge plus to America. Seriously i need to go to 3 stores for that
-Americans love watered down beer
-Americans are next level religious
-Americans love polos or button up shirts (polos = city guys, button ups = country guys)

Overall I would say America is better. Otherwise it’s the same country, might as well call it United States & Provinces of America

A lot to be proud of being a Canadian

1. Terry Fox - ran halfway across the country on one leg
2. Our military reputation - we are like the sports team that doesn't rely on big-dollar stars but just goes out there and kicks ass
3. Actors/Comedians - John Candy, Jim Carry, Eugene Levy, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine O'Hara, Mike Myers the list is long
4. Music
5. Hockey - the sport that all others are judged against when it comes to toughness
6. THE CHARACTER OF OUR PEOPLE - hopefully, this continues on and doesn't go down the drain just cause we have some different ideas about how things should be done.

While i am definitely not a Nickleback fan, i can say that when they arrived in Vancouver from Alberta as kids they worked harder than any other band. They took lousy monday and tuesday night slots in little craphole clubs and treated their band as a job-at the rehearsal lockup same time every day and when not practicing out hustling posters and flyers for the next gig. I played in a band that rehearsed at the same facility, and they were definitely outsiders but they kept at it.

Their attitude was an anomaly at that time in the music scene. There were bands and players that had WAY more talent and stage craft (Todd Kerns from another band of that era/place Age of Electric plays bass for Slash and Miles Kennedy) but where these bands wanted to be rock stars, the Nickleback guys treated it with solid farm kid work ethic.

While CanCon rules have produced some truly crappy bands, there has been a lot of great Canadian music made that has never been heard outside of this country.

Disappointing though his delusional anti-vax beliefs may be, there are far bigger D-bags out there than Jim Carrey.

Canadians are like American Royalty.

Norwegians are like Canadians except gayer and even more introverted.

Lived and worked in all three countries for years. If I could choose ,I would go back to the States.

Whew...I read through this thread looking for some fun chatter about Letterkenny, good and bad Canadian music, and some good perspective on Canadian life. Instead it was like having ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife.

Hey! What about Shorsey?? I think that show is far more engaging and funny than Letterkenny and Trailer Park Boys.
