I would be grateful to anyone that has been to Newfoundland via air to describe their testing procedures.
I have a flight in, on Oct 2nd, that I’m not that concerned as I can handle getting the testing here in the US. My concern for return testing is with me being in the bush until the 10th which is a Sunday and return flight has been booked for months to leave Monday at 5am.
Any other guys with a similar experience please rely your plan/thoughts. Thanks.

Don't know about Canada but from what I hear about Mexico is that no one fails a Covid test coming back to the US especially if you get one from one of the "approved" testers at the airport because they don't want you there.

It's my understanding, from talks with a coworker, that there are quite a few options for day before and even quick-turnaround day-of-flight testing at many of the airports. Granted, her experience is in Vancouver, but one would expect it to be the same throughout the country. Good luck with your hunt and a safe return home.

CVS pharmacy has self rapid test kits for sale. You could buy one or two and bring with jic. Seems silly but might be cheap insurance.

Home kits have to be supervised by a physician via zoom or such. Not an option due to no way of getting their participation documented..

I am flying into Calgary on Friday, I will update as it goes.

So far this is what I have gathered we will be needing.

PCR test with results with 72 hours prior to the departure time of your flight to CA

Download and fill out the arrive Canada app

Have copies and up load if possible the following
Test results, vax card , quarantine plan, copies of your contact if you using an outfitter and prof of payment.

Passport

tag, going in October was wanting to know myself.

so there is a app, nice

I went to the Virgin Islands a month ago and they had a online portal that you uploaded everything to, it was pretty slick. Hopefully the Canada one is similar, I was doing some google searching over the weekend to kind of find some info on the subject, but couldn't figure out much about the process.

I am vaccinated, and knew about getting tested 72 hours prior, but other than that, was not sure what to do.

If anyone is flying out of Deer Lake in NL, call 709-990-1418 to set up an appointment. They are setting up a clinic in the airport for Covid testing with 15min results. For my Oct 11th 5am departing flight, I'm testing the evening of the 10th, as per appointment. YOU NEED AN APPOINTMENT...

Is there a cost? Or is it free?

Does anyone know what a quarantine plan needs to look like if you fly into Montreal and then on to Deer Lake? Will the outfitters NL address and facilities work for quarantine in Montreal? I would assume not.

I hunted BC in august and the Quarantine plan that I used was the outfitter camp, I flew into Vancouver then on to Whitehorse then to camp. So your outfitters address should work, they never looked at the quarantine plan at the border they were only interested in the proof of vaccination, negative test and ArriveCA. When you think about it if your negative when you inter Canada you would be in camp before you would show symptoms anyway. If you have everything downloaded in the ArriveCAN app and print it out once your done you won’t have any problems, hope this helps

I think as of tomorrow if you are vaccinated there is no quarantine required coming into my not so great white North.

I just got back home to the States…..

To anyone traveling make sure you use the ArriveCAN phone application. Its basically required and is really going to speed up and simplify the process. One form, per party. Meaning if you and a buddy are traveling/quarantine together, you fill it out, together. You can’t apply/process the application for entry with ArriveCAN until you are within 72 hours of arrival in Canada.

You will need a quarantine plan. This is an address or location you can use IF you get Covid while up there. They sweated the shit out of us over this. I used my outfitters home address and got a pile of questions.

You will need a PCR Covid test within 72 hours of arrival….(there might be some other accepted but I know some rapid tests are not accepted)

Also make sure your Covid Vaccine is 100% completed 16 days prior to arrival. This damn near cost my buddy entry and lucky for him we arrived 11:55pm on his 15th day since vaccination and they allowed him to wait 5 min to enter. They are not messing around.

It really sounds like your shit needs to be in order. They are denying entry left and right for simply not having all your paperwork together, not having quarantine plans, etc.

I have been hunting in Canada a pile of times and have never been through such scrutiny.

Good info! Thanks for the update

I posted this above but as of last Tuesday if you are fully vaccinated, you do not need to quarantine coming up. You still need a negative test and all the other stuff but no quarantine

My outfitter said use his address for quarantine plan or write "return home". Also said "it's important to list tourism as the reason for your visit"...Also have copies of the outfitters "welcome sheet and invoice"..
