you have to go thru the same process basically to go to the virgin islands. had to to do it a little while ago. I don't mind, I want to go hunting, my desire to kill critters outweighs the minor aggravation caused by traveling to certain spots.

So far when I checked in an check my baggage they asked for the following

Arrive Canada App …

I drove across border at Niagara Falls and flew out of Toronto this morning. Border agents were friendly, checked ArriveCAN app, Covid test, passport, and firearms and let us through. Went smoother than I expected.
While waiting for them to check firearms I saw several people sent back across border for the wrong Covid test or attempting to cross without a 72 hr negative test…that should be expected though given their criteria.

Something your probably not going to want to do is travel waiting on results if all your itinerary is on one ticket. Looks like they are checking results at every leg of the trip.


I was sweating this as I didn’t receive my test results and print them out till about two hours before I jumped in the truck to drive to the airport.

Why did they check your ArriveCan app for the first US leg of your trip? That seems odd.

Also, what was your layover times in between flights? What was the minimum time you needed to get through customs with a weapon?

Landed in Calgary and got through no problem. The agent were very friendly and the process was quick…if you had your receipt and log in for the Arrive Can app and all was complete. If not you we’re screwed and stood on a long line.
5 minutes at a customs kiosk then though to an Boarder patrol agent.

He looked at my pass port, my receipt from
the App that showed everything was up loaded, asked to see the neg test and that’s it.

Told me good luck on my hunt.

I had about 1.45 for my lay over. My second flight left a bit late… the process of checking everyone in was the hold up.

I don’t know what added time is needed to check a rifle because I have never flown with one. Back home when I check a handgun I usually figure a little extra time for it ….I have no idea for customs though as I always just have my bow.

In all honesty I think it makes sense. The ArriveCAN app seems like a necessity otherwise they will have freaking mess of people and paperwork on their hands with all the regs for entry. If you get everything uploaded to the app it makes everyone’s life easier.

This Air Canada app is crazy, hopefully its got a glitch.

I just got my covid test back a little while ago, thought I would have to upload that to app.

I go in to fill out the app, supposed to to go in 2 days.
When I put in the date of arrival, 2 days from now, get error message that says date has to more than 3 days from todays date.

WTH , can't get the covid test but 72 hours out (3 days), but you have to fill out the form before, do you not upload the test ? I went to the Virgin Island a few months back, they had a portal system, it was a breeze, this Canada App thing makes no sense to me.

I guess I will try it again later, and hope it is some kind of glitch.

Must have been some kind of glitch, got it to work about 4 hours later. I was about to blow my stack. Lol
