Can you tailor the waist of hiking/hunting pants with flat seam?

I bought a pair of kuiu katana pants in their outlet which I can’t return. I got the same size as my attacks and pros, but the waist of these are significantly more loose (maybe because of the stretch?). I brought them to the dry cleaner who does tailoring and they said the only way to do it is sew a fold since there is no rear seam but then you have a pinch point while wearing a pack. Does anyone know if there’s another way that they can be taken in or has anyone done something similar? I tried just a belt but then they bunch up and still feel like they are falling off. I love the material but if I can’t tailor them, I may be putting them for sale on the classifieds.

As long as seams are sewn, I'm sure it can be done, the question is how much work and skill does it take. Ask different tailors and see if you can find one who will try it.
