Good info. So, yes, you can have a campfire, and no, game doesn't care. Fire is a natural thing and the game isn't affected by it unless it poses an immediate threat.

This fire has burned the area of my very first elk hunt years ago.

It was interesting seeing the blue and orange dots (elk) on the northwest edge of the fire in the Rawahs. That was only perhaps one drainage over from the fire edge at Tunnel campground, and they seemed content to stay there most of September.
