Calbuck
WKR
Dad drew a Lassen tag after years of applying. We looked at a ton of cookie cutter bucks, and decided this was our target buck. We ran into him 3 times, with a longer shot missing it’s mark. Fast forward through a couple inches of rain and a muddy slippery mess that kept us camp bound yesterday. This morning found us glassing a huge valley with 5 different bucks rutting around with 10-15 does..there were antelope running all over the place!
They finally settled down. We kind of lost track of our buck, so made our way down into the valley, toward the spring in the back. We had accounted for 4 of the bucks. Our buck was gone..for about 2 minutes!
He had bedded above the spring in the rocks and as we approached he stood and offered a 200 yd shot. Dad nailed him with a 140 grain 7 mm Barnes and the whooping began. Fun time, lots of animals and well worth the time it took for him to draw the tag. (He’s 77!) Great job dad!
