While on the topic, does anyone know if they will give me some money back if the coat I got for my brother for Christmas dropped another $15 the day after I bought it? Other companies like Best Buy will do this during the return period, because honestly you could just order again and return the first order.

Good luck. Since they went public their CS has not been that great. You use to be able to return almost anything if it was broke, pretty much no matter how long you had had it. Now you have to purchase warranties on items that are already way over priced.

From what local employees of Cabela's have been saying the BP deal went through.

come January 1st, Cabelas will be owned and operated by Bass Pro. =-(

Haha I'm surprised this rumor hasn't be spewed out more on this forum. For the record, this isn't true. And anybody who says otherwise is ignorant. A lot of he said she said has been going around but nothing credible.

As for the customer service aspect it is a viscous cycle. Everybody wants low prices (obviously seen on this forum and just common knowledge) and they want professionals to work in the stores. Well when a company is offering the lowest possible prices there isn't much money left over to pay employees higher wages, which is required to have the most knowledgeable employees. Think about it, if you are the best at what you do you will most likely demand a higher price right? And nothing wrong with that but the public has to understand that it is very difficult to have both.

What is true is that several groups are putting together take over offers and that Bass Pro is working with JP Morgan on its best offer. Cabelas stock price has jumped 10% since the first news. Where there is smoke there is fire. In this case there is a lot of smoke!

There is a lot more to the "sale" of cabelas. I would not put much stock into the rumors. As for the knowledge of the employees, I'll stay at full rut for archery gear and I'm a Kuiu/ First Light user for camo. I'll stay where comfortable and the Denver area has a ton of good places to get gear and help.

The more I visit the local Cabela's, the less I find that works for me. I did go to the friends/family event recently to get new waders. They were "On Sale" so the F&F discount didn't apply.

The sale prices on the said sale will work best on clothing where they have the highest mark up. Only so much discount on optics and firearms as the margin is already slim. I have no idea on the merger/buy out but time will tell.
