Is this a fairly safe option? I talked to MR and they said they have lifetime warranties. Do people really tear up these packs or are they pretty tough?

I bought a crew cab in 2008, a 6500 bag for it a couple years later and an internal frame bighorn in 2010. They have all carried a ton of meat, been to multiple states and I hate to think how many miles I’ve walked with them on. I’ve got a few wear spots/rubs, maybe a couple loose stitches and some stains but they’re still going strong and have made it tough for me to buy something else. Quality of care given to the pack would be one of my deciding factors in buying used

They're arguably the toughest pack on the market. I wouldn't hesitate to buy used if it looked to be in nice shape.

Gohunt did a stress test with a few brands. It's not all brands or super scientific, but I think it demonstrates that Mystery Ranch is well built.

I have a big sky from around 2007, and a g5000 from 2009 - both have "been used"....
I have had a couple of repairs to my big sky, along with getting heavier duty stays, and it was done all for free in Bozeman. In my experience, they have been awesome. If the pack you are looking at was made in Bozeman (last few years some packs have been produced elsewhere i guess?) and looks to be in good shape, I would feel pretty good buying, assuming the price is reasonable.
