Just an FYI, I recently had a package shipped to my office from a non-forum seller. The
package never arrived so I started tracking package. After opening the the shipping case
the shipping company contacted me and stated it was delivered to wrong address. I contacted PP dispute. 6 weeks later shipping company contacted me and said it was delivered to right address and described my front door (probably after they sent the delivery man to find where he delivered package) changing the original story. They said seller didnt require signature and left the $400 dollar fly reel on office front step. PP closed dispute in Seller's favor because they provided proof of delivery.

Friday, after two months the reel was delivered to my office. No explanation, just delivered. Maybe the delivery person was high and remembered which bush he hid the package under? Anyway, remember to ask seller to require a signature and request insurance if you can. Do not rely on PP buyer protection. They will side with seller if proof of delivery from seller is provided.

Not a rant, Seller should have required signature and probably forgot or was not aware of
possible outcome. I should have also requested signature had I been aware of this possibility. Insurance would not have helped either of us if the shipper can lie and say it was delivered. A signature requirement and insurance would have probably been the best solution for more expensive items.

Thanks for the note! I've dealt with a similar situation before and will always require a signature from now on.

Doesnt really help now anyways with covid and no contact. Even if a sig is required they are just going to leave it on the porch and NOT ring the doorbell. They left my gun sitting out 2 weeks ago.

One delivery guy signed for me. I saw tracking said delivered and had an image of a signature. Package was on front porch. All was fine fortunately

Yeah, they aren’t doing signatures currently, UPS and Fedex have gps scanners now that show the package being scanned and the location it was scanned so they should be able to see exactly where that package was when it was scanned as being delivered. Was this delivered by UPS or Fedex itself or was it delivered by USPS? UPS and Fedex contract with USPS for local drop offs, wouldn’t surprise me if it was a USPS drop off seeing that no one seemed to know where it was and then it magically appeared later.

Problem I have with signature is I'm never home when delivery would take place. My working hours are that which do not coincide with the delivery people (USPS, UPS, or FedEx). I live rural, and closest UPS or FedEx hub is 30 miles away, and aren't open when I get off, so they hold it for three days before returning it to sender.
My only hope is for the delivery people to be honest enough to deliver what I order and leave it on my porch. USPS has been horrible the last 3 months (I'm sure Covid related), I have had my packages go from Colorado to St. Paul Minnesota instead of down here to Louisiana. I'm waiting for small two packages now, one from Hunt Of the day (Sitka cap), and some Altitude Adjustment pills. They have been in Baton Rouge (30 miles away) since August 14, today is August 25.

USPS in my area has the GPS tech also. I had something that said delivered but wasn’t. Called the Post Office and Supervisor said it he checked the GPS location of the driver when delivered and it wasn’t my house. He tried to contact the people who lived there but they would never respond. He even went in person. This was before Covid. Never got it but they worked it out with Amazon and I just ordered again.

It's a mess out there now. Just this weekend we had a couple weird encounters with things delivered. A full case of wine from some CA vineyard arrived on my doorstep. The box specifically mentioned to NOT leave it on the doorstep as it contained alcohol, to check for ID and a signature required. Well, I didn't order a case of wine and while the address was correct it wasn't a name that lives with us. UPS showed up yesterday saying the needed the box of wine back. I questioned why they left it on the doorstep to begin with...guy just shrugged his shoulders.

My neighbor texted me last night asking if a package was delivered to our house by mistake. I asked if it was a box of wine...it was not. Apparently the previous owners of his house ordered new phones. The phone company delivered them to the old address (my neighbors house). The previous home owner showed up at their house yesterday banging on the door and tearing through packages that were left on their porch. They caught it all on the Ring system. My neighbor got home a few minutes later to an irate man saying he had called the police as he was convinced my neighbor had stolen his new cell phones. In the end, there was my neighbor, the old owner, the police, and the UPS driver out there. Turned out the UPS guy realized the name on the box didn't match and had the package returned to sender.

It makes me wonder how and why we have supported the Amazon's of the world, Ebay, etc. I miss the brick and mortar days of driving down the street and buying the item I want or need.

My Paypal is paid by my CC. The couple of times I had problems with a seller, I just diputed it and got my money from them. Paypal is no help.

If worried and not a firearm just have it delivered to a UPS store and pay the small fee, super easy and secure.

Had a similar thing with the post office here, claimed a small package was left in the mailbox but it wasn’t. Talked to the neighbors and it wasn’t in any of theirs. Talked to the post master and he said the gps showed it being delivered. It showed up in the box a day or two later with no explanation

I get the whole Wuhan plague scare, but the delivery people are just not paying attention like they used to, or are just overwhelmed with deliveries.

we constantly get packages for our neighbors. Address will be correct, our places are well marked, but they Miss by a couple houses.

I've had similar. We have cameras so that is the first thing I tell UPS when I call them to tell them my package was not delivered to my house. The last time this happened, I saw UPS deliver a box to my neighbors. I was pretty sure it was my package. Called UPS, told them I did not get my package and that I had been home and had cameras. They called the driver. Driver admitted to delivering to wrong address. Then UPS dispatch asked that I go get the package off my neighbors porch if it was still there! I was floored. We bargained and I told him I would text the owners and ask if they received my package but to not close the investigation until I had the package back in my possession.

Person could get shot out here walking up to a neighbors door and walking away with a package.
