Buy once cry once 2p tent?

I'd go with a Hilleberg Niak. Its listed as a two person tent but it works great as a solo tent. You can keep all your gear covered and can pitch it anywhere. I found teepee tents to require more real estate and can be tricky on slopped terrain. I've been stuck in blizzards above tree line as well as bug infested areas and it has never failed me.

There is no such thing as buy once cry once for a tent…. Different tools for different jobs.

Floorless and stoves are cool for cold weather when sized appropriately, but for September in the mountains I think most guys would be better off with a standard backpack style tent with a mesh or partially mesh inner. That or a bivy/tarp setup.

Off the top of my head want to say a pound I could be wrong though. But I guess the extra breathability and options is what I like most. Sorry if I’m not a ton of help like I say I’m pretty new to the tent type of hunting

Xmid 2 is pretty fantastic. I love the Slingfin portal as well, but I have the 3 person version for the wife and I.

As age .. caught up with me, for packing in I went with a Zpacks ultralight tent. But I suggest you size up, so for just you, get a 2 man, for 2 get a 3 man. People typically use tracking poles to set them up, but you can but carbonfiber poles specifically for their tents. If you go with any tent like theirs, I suggest staying away from the single pole tents

I prefer to have room in a tent. But I have a beat up body, and simply do better going ultralight.
I've been running my Zpacks triplex for 9 years and I love it
