Building a Nostalgic Bow Setup - Switchback XT

Ain't nothing wrong with the SBXT's grip at all. Some guys just like to have a little cheese with their wine.

I love shooting older compounds. I started in 1983 with a Whitetail 2. I still shoot a Mathews Conquest. I just do not like the feel of these new bows.

My go to is a Conquest 2. I just picked another one up As a backup bow. the new bow draw cycles to me are painfull.

That’s awesome! My first Mathews was a drenalin, and I’ve been tossing around the idea of doing the same thing. Wish I hadn’t of sold that one years back. I got a VXR now and even though I like it, it’s just never really clicked with me like the older Mathews did.

Traverse to me is just like the new ones, no difference. When you have a messed up shoulder (me) I can tell right out of the gate whether I can pull it or not. Traverse, V3, VXR, all cripple me.

Still have and hunt with my purchased new back in the day Switchback XT. And Legacy from time to time too.

Ripcord and QAD Ultra Rests were the usual suspects at the time and considered groundbreaking. I had problems with the QAD rest and ended up using Ripcord for all my hunting.

My setup employs a simple multi-pin Trueglo sight, to which I swapped in their green Tritium pin. (a Brite-site maybe?). A Hind-sight would be something different and was considered sort of cutting edge then.

The Switchback might have started off with a Kwikee Kwiver but I put a Mathews quiver on when they launched those.

Anyways, this isn’t an elaborate setup, I know. But it is representative for sure.

Quick Update since this thread is alive again. I got lucky and found a Black Gold sight that matched the ripcord, Carolina archery stabilizer and Mathews two piece quiver.

Any one feeling nostalgic, I have a DXT id let go if anyone’s looking for one. My back up nostalgia now is a Oneida Aeroforce
