Budgety threaded 22?

Fair but I doubt you’re really going to notice much about the triggers between the budget models. I he Ruger Americans and savages probably have a blade safety trigger, CZ and tikkas have good triggers, 10/22s have all sorts of trigger upgrades available.

Honestly the more I think about it, you should get whatever 10/22 they have with a threaded barrel so you can start shooting, then if you want later, you can upgrade barrels, triggers, stocks etc etc etc on the 10/22.

Plus the 10/22 is a classic, it was my first gun ever back in 1992, I bet it was copy these other folks first gun as well.
All good points.

It's kinda crazy that I've never had a 10/22... They're such a classic, and so many parts available for them.

I have a 10/22 but my 22 can usually stays on MP 15-22...25 rd mags of standard velocity is super fun. Bird cage can be a PIA to get off but it does come off.

Winchester Xpert is about the best "cheap" threaded bolt action 22LR rifle I've found. Super accurate with both the open sights and once I added a scope. I was shooting an 8" steel at 100 yards suppressed with open sights. What a hoot. Went 10 for 10 offhand at 60 yards on the same steel with CCI Quiet subs. The steel bong was louder than the shot and neither were loud. The biggest bonus with a bolt 22LR is that you can get lots of practice reps in with very little cost once you find an ammo your gun likes.

Has it been reliable for you? A lot going for it at that price.

I have around 500 rounds through that one and over 1k through a Winchester Wildcat and I like them more every time I use them. Can use 10/22 magazines on both models and they just shoot good. Best buy of the year so far. Need to shoot my Ruger American 22CM more to see if it over comes the little 22lr Winchester rifles I got for the best of 2025. I might get another Xpert in 17 Winchester Super Magnum for a suppressed NV short range gun.

A CZ457 with their match barrel makes a pretty fun bolt gun plinker. Lots of options for stock/chassis and other upgrades available.

I picked up a Springfield 2020 target for a bolt gun and I own a 10/22 takedown with a Magpul barrel and stock. I enjoy both, but the 2020 is pretty sweet for the price.
How accurate is it? I've got a 2020 Waypoint that I really like, so it seemed logical.

But the accuracy guarantee isn't enticing. Lol

CZ rimfires would be my choice for a rifle. I have a 452 that shoots amazing. Won a few shooting matches with it shooting cheap wolf match.

I am really liking my Bergara BMR. I would also love to have the BXR semi-auto version. It uses 10/22 mags. Both come threaded and have carbon wrapped barrel options.

S&W M&P 15-22 for a 22LR in AR-15 footprint gives you all the controls and features in a ultralight package.

back when Golden Eagle was really good, the 40 rnd boxes, I could go 8-9 out of 10 @ 175 yds on a little green propane tank.
I'll have a suppressor for it soon, LR's are silly fun!

So, due to the fact that I'm very smart and responsible... I bought a 22 can, but I don't own a threaded 22.

What is your favorite budgety 22 (under around $600), preferably bolt gun, maybe pistol.

I've got a scope or two sitting around, really just worried about the gun cost, and wanting something fun.

Get a secondhand CZ 452 or a CZ 457 American SR.
