I’m looking to buy a RTT, something big 3-4 people.

It’s hard for me to justify spending 4k+ on a tent that’s made in china, probably in the same factories as the cheap amazon ones.

Any recommendations on budget options?

I had a Rough Country XL with the vestibule. It was comfortable for 2 adults. Used it for 2 years and sold it. Bought a Kodiak 10x14. It was difficult for me to set up the roof top tent because my Ram 2500 sat up so high w just a level and 35" tires. If I bought another RTT it would be a wedge style that I could set up and take down by standing on the tailgate.

Where are you located I have a Thule tepui ruggedized 3 man that has been used maybe 10 times. Asking 800

I could see that being a pain, the rough country looks nice for the money though, especially for a hard shell. I’d consider the wedge, but my family is pretty tall and I’d leave it on my truck most of the year so durability and sleeping room are the biggest factors for us.

I had an ironman 4x4 for a while that I liked. The vestibule went over the ladder like some of the XL tents but it was not as big. When I put the annex on the ladder was inside it, made a nice changing room and kept all our stuff inside. Would agree on the wedge style though.

Find a used name brand.

That being said I had over 100 nights in my Smitty Built tent when I sold it. And I regret getting rid of it. I was very happy with it.

Our CVT is good too though.
