Howdy All,

Anyone have 1st hand experience with the XB2 mountain pro rifles from Browning?

Either the carbon fiber barrel or the tungsten barrel?

Interested in a light weight mountain gun. The 6.5 creedmoor comes in right at 6 pounds, so pretty light for a factory rifle.

Would love hearing about any 1st hand experiences anyone has to share.

I had one in X bolt and it’s great, very accurate and repeatable. 6 lbs with the steel barrel.
Hard to beat for the $1100 I paid. In fact you can still find a few of the X bolts for a serious discount.
It’s a carbon stock, bedded to the action with cerakote and muzzle threads with a protector and a very effective brake.
I hand load and I’m shoting 143 eldx at 2750 out of the 22” barrel.
Factory was about 2650.
I was so happy with it I gave it to my daughter so she would have a nice reliable, accurate rifle.
I assume the X bolt 2 would be a little better but I am very happy with the original X bolt pro carbon.

I had an XBolt mountain Pro (Gen 1) and while it was nicely fit and finished I was disappointed that it came out heavier than advertised by more than a few ounces. I was willing to overlook the weight but not the trigger, even with a YoDave spring installed I could not get the pull weight below about 3.25pds and it was not near as crisp as some other good factory ones.

I would have polished the internals of the trigger but was unable to due to these weird pins/rivets in the trigger pack that make it unserviceable.
It went down the road promptly in favour of a Tikka.

I have a X Bolt in 6.8W. I like it, but it kicks hard due to the low weight. It should be fine in 6.5CM.

Just received one in 300 PRC steel barrel Tungsten. Still working out a hunting load and will be taking it to South Africa at the end of April if I can make it shoot as well as my 700 in .338 win mag. The recoil hog brake makes the gun very shootable from a bench, the new trigger is very good, maybe as good as the trigger tech on my Proof as far as breaking and travel. I haven't tried adjusting it yet, it's at 3.2 from the factory which is a bit heavy for me but it is a hunting rifle.
I will probably try turning it down a bit. The carbon stock is good, it feels solid, no flex, like the resessed sling swivels and excellent recoil pad. Still not convinced it was worth what it cost, if it shoots I'll be happy with the price but it is getting close to a Proof or other semi custom gun. We'll see!

I have 2 gen one XBolts - an XBolt Speed SPR .308 and an XBolt Mountain Pro 7PRC.

Replaced the stock Browning trigger springs with the MCarbo's and was able to adjust them to around 2lbs.

My bro in law bought the XBolt 2 and with the spring completely removed the trigger would not go below 3 lbs.

If a 3 lb trigger is ok with you I recommend the XBolts. For me though the new trigger means I will likely never buy an XBolt2.
