I just saw that Browning is back in the ammo game. They have a Bxr (rapid) and Bxc (controlled). I am intrigued by the 145 grain Bxc bullet for the .270, seems like it would be an awesome all around round. What is y'alls opinion on this for whitetail, mulies and elk? How about vs my current go to, accubond?

Hello,

I realize I'm resurrecting an old thread, but did you ever get a chance to try out the Browning BXR? I found a really nice sale on them in 270 & was curious if you got a chance to test them out.

-Thanks

I tried them in my Browning HC Speed 30 06. They were worst than awful. They shot all over the place. We found different color primers and off color cases. 1 would shoot great the next might be 6 inches low, high. The Hornady and Federal ammo I was shooting was excellent.

I was hoping they shot good as it looks like a nice weight and I assumed they would pair nicely with a Browning rifle. I was getting ready for an elk hunt. Maybe I got a bad batch?????

Thanks, I found them for 13.99 a box so I might pick them up to help break the barrel in on my new rifle.

I haven’t personally shot them out of any rifles but have been out with 2 different buddies who were trying them and they shot terrible out of 2 different rifles.

Well I purchased a whole bunch of the browning BXC in 270 Win just before the covid-19 pandemic hit and shut down my local ranges. Just recently they started operating their normal schedule and now that I am fully (quadruple) vaccinated I decided to resume my range practice sessions. Today (7/21/2022) I took two 270 Win rifles with me; a howa 1500 and a bergara b-14 timber to the range. Neither of them liked the browning ammo much. I was heart broken to say the least but on the upside my rifles do like the cheaper Winchester Super-X Power Point ammo. Especially the howa that gave me 1 moa groups at 100 yards. The browing BXC averaged about 2.5-3.0 moa for the howa. I also own some Winchester Model 70 rifles chambered in 270 Win so I may take them to the range one of these days to test with the BXC ammo. To be honest though I don't hold out much hope. Field and Stream did a review on the BXC ammo in 2018 and they basically arrived at the same conclusion. It wasn't until the writer go his hands on some BXC bullets from browning and worked up a decent hand load that he was able to achieve 1.25 moa at 100 yards.
