Brown Bear Ammo

I ran a 338 for the first decade of guiding. The 225 X bullet I was always thrilled with. Over alll I would say any of the partition style are my favorite. Swift a frame. Trophy bonded bear claw, the old partition gold by Winchester or the fail safe, don’t think those are around anymore of course the nosler partition.
failsafe is the only one i used with my 340 weatherby but it was only a grizzly ...and it worked great.

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping you guys can help me out on some ammo recommendations. I have a spring AK peninsula brown bear hunt coming up. I'll be running a custom 300PRC for this hunt with a 1 in 10 twist. It shoots factory Berger 215's at sub 1/2 MOA groups, but that's not an ideal bullet choice for this hunt. The rifle does not like the ELD-X or ELD-M ammo. I'm not a handloader and will be running factory ammo for this hunt. The slower twist hampers some of the bullet weight choices a bit too. I'm looking for some other suggestions that you guys would recommend. Thanks in advance for any input you all can offer, I appreciate it!
The Bergers are fine if you keep it in the Ribcage not on that big shoulder bone. I used 210 gr TTSX in a 338 RPM. Accubond or Partition would also work great.

Another vote for terminal ascent if the eldx doesn’t work. Those heavy for cal bonded bullets drop big bears.

Having never killed a big bear what I say porbbaly isn't worth much. Id be more comfortable taking a solid bullet though. A 190 CX or the terminal ascent ammo. Choice loads a 180 ttsx, a 190 Barnes LRX(works in 1:10) and a 200 grain accubond. Do not take a berger. Dont take the eldx or M. You want some penetration.

Used 7mm mag 180gr remington when I lived on Kodiak, works just fine...

I shoot 300WM and used Federal Terminal Ascent in 200gr for my AK Brown Bear. Worked perfectly, 1 shot and dropped him from 240yds. 🤷‍♂️

Federal makes a 210gr 300 PRC in the Terminal Ascent.

Thanks so much to everyone for your advice. After some research, I got in contact with Lonnie at Superior Ammunition (he's a fantastic guy), and we developed a load with a Nosler 200gr Accubond, which shoots phenomenally out of my 300PRC. This will be the ammo that's heading to AK with me next month. Thanks again for everyone's help, I greatly appreciate it.
