Tested a couple broadheads this morning. Right is a NAP Redneck, Left a Black Toxic. Shot into a cow bone at 6 yards. 63lb Centergy @ 27", Victory arrows right around 432 g.20200412_091629.jpg20200412_091636.jpg

Why are you are disappointed? What exactly were you "testing"?

That appears to be the obvious outcome.

Yeah, not sure what else to be expected. Even a heavy arrow out of a 70+ lb rig is going to have trouble with a cow shoulder.

That's a femur. Be the knee, not shoulder.

You're not shooting through that.

Two things:
One, your lucky that toxic didn't send shrapnel back at you... no way your forcing that thru that much bone let alone a dried out one like you have. I reckon you could use it as a framing hammer
And two, what were you expecting out of a cheap thin blade broadhead?

My opinion, your lucky you came away unscathed

I wasn't expecting to send the arrow through, I was expecting better penetration from that distance. It's not a shoulder, btw.

Very light arrow, light draw weight bow, Wal-Mart broadheads...good news, your results are typical. If you want to shoot through bone, it's back to the drawing board. 550+TAW (900+ for bone like that), one piece broadhead (or Iron Will), 150+ grain head, impact-proof components, and up your draw weight preferably.

6 yds is not a good distance to test penetration. Your arrow just came off your bow. It's still trying to recover from the deflection your string put on it upon the release. You are going to have poor penetration with just about any arrow at 6 yds. Especially a light arrow with low FOC like you tested.
