I have a TiGoat Raven Omni, and when I woke up every morning last year - it had condensation on the inside. I guess I'm a warm sleeper and would sweat just a little, but it would result in my quilt staying damp. Until I got a chance to unpack and lay it out to dry.

Being that my main use is in either a sawtooth or in a tent where I just want to keep my pad and quilt together, I'm looking for something more breathable. Ideal would be a water resistant bottom, and then a super lightweight cloth or mesh top.

Anyone know of anything like this?

You answered your own question. Those are two good quality choices.

I use my bivy just like you described and I don't get much condensation at all. I even dry my wet clothes and socks in my quilt. I don't zip the top though since I'm just using the bivy to keep everything clean and together.

I am/was in the same boat. I wanted a bivy in a floorless for bug defense as well as keeping the sleeping kit together clean/dry from the floorless environment. I too had condensation issues and sold them off. I did really like the Raven Omni as far as size though. In regards to the TI Goat bug bivy, I had the Ptarmigan bivy and found it a little constricting. I plan to have Ti Goat basically build an Omni Raven with side zip and all that but with a top layer of bug netting instead of Impetus on top. That should hopefully get me everything I want from a bivy.

I had the same issues with my MSR E-bivy, so I just switched to a Borah M90. I used for the first time last night, and so far so good. I'm interested to see how it breathes as I use it in more varying conditions.

I have that one( Borah M90) and used to have the T I Goat Raven Omni I have condensation on my bag every morning regardless of weather conditions with both of them.I find I
m better off with just the sleeping bag

I have been experincing the same thing with the Raven for the past year - thought it was just me. At this point in time, after reading so many similar experiences to yours and mine, let us DIFINITIVELY state that the TiGoat Raven IS NOT BREATHABLE.

I never had condensation issues with the military GoreTex bivy bags with the side snaps.

I'm wondering if these new fangled UL bivy bags simply need to switch to snap side closures and thus be self venting/pumping when you move/squirm in them.

Condensation is a common occurrence in these types of bivys. I have a TG Raven ( model of fabric before current one) and have only noticed condensation a few times in it. But I do not use it with upper zipped up much at all.

That being said, if I am going to use a bivy 90% of the time I now use a TG bug bivy that is made in same size size and zipper arrangement as the Raven model. I much prefer this unless temps get below 20 F. For those times I bring the regular Raven.

I have been using a full 2.5 layer waterproof breathable bivy, and have only had any real condensation / frost in below freezing conditions, even if I allow very little or no venting. If I vent it a little , I get minimal condensation. If it is above freezing I've had nights with no condensation, even sleeping out under the stars.

Condensation / frost below freezing is almost unavoidable. If you cowboy camp, under the stars, you will have it even without a bivy.
