Me and my wife watched the show religiously. Loved it. Were obsessed.

The last season came out and we watched the first few episodes and never finished it. Such a let down.

I've heard rumblings of them re doing the last season. Not sure how that would work but it probably deserves a proper send off

I liked The Wire better than both of them, but between the two, The Sopranos for me.

There was a network show years ago called Homicide: Life On The Streets. It was a cop show based in Baltimore. It was a great show. If it had been on HBO, it would have been even greater. It was by the same guys that did The Wire.

For an ABC series, LOST is very good. I have watched the Sapranos and Lost several times each. BB is a good one. Also watched GOT a couple times.

Someone above mentioned them coming from different times - they're capturing different things.

Different social vibes, different needs, different resonance...different generational tone.

Pre 9/11 was a different world, not just globally, but with media especially - it was still a time where you couldn't pause the TV, and there was no binge watching later, unless you wanted to buy all the VHS or DVDs for it. That matters for the impact waiting each week, then between seasons, has on the experience.

Back then, The Sopranos was an epic experience, savored over years with friends, right as the world was going nuts and changing course hard.

And I binge watched Breaking Bad over a week or two.

A year or so ago I went back to watch The Sopranos again, and couldn't get past the second episode.

That actually hurt a little.
I voted Sopranos just on the nostalgia of that experience you described.

I've tried watching it again many times of the years and usually don't make it far. Just can't do it. It's not the same as it once was and almost like it can only be watched once in its entirety.

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are both very well written and had some good acting. Worth a second watch for sure.

And since people are throwing other shows in the mix. Mad Men is great but always makes me want to drink and smoke along with them lol.

Peaky Blinders makes it pretty high on my list and only second to Band of Brothers.

Both great of course. Breaking Bad for me. BB was one of the first big hits that broke open the New Mexico film scene and the tax credits that made so many other productions come there in the following years. I worked on Independence Day 2 on the lot there in ABQ one year and saw Bob Odenkirk walking to his set next door for Better Call Saul. Small World. It's also cool to see the local landmarks around town where they shot the series. Los Pollos Hermanos pictured.View attachment 1017748View attachment 1017752
LOL! Twisters! Wasn’t there one in Bernalillo? I don’t go south very much unless I have an Oryx tag in my pocket. I just stay in the northwest and northern part of the state.

BB is great! So is Better Call Saul. Don’t forget about El Camino.

Justified was fantastic as well. The new version of Battlestar Galactica was pretty good too.

Even though I like BB, I can’t stand the woke actors in their real lives.

Mad Men takes the cake for best drama of all time period piece for me too.

Ted Lasso though - pretty damn solid and hard to beat

First season of True Detective. Doesn't get much better than that. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson killed.

I wouldn’t put Ted Lasso in the same ballpark as the Wire, Sopranos, or Breaking Bad. It’s a decent show with a few brilliant teaching moments.

Very true! I loved the first season and the 2nd season bombed. Not even sure how many seasons were made after that.

Vikings was a good show too. Kinda got old near the end but it was well done.

Lost has always toggled between #1 and #2 GOAT for me. Ive seen lost with my wife from the beginning multiple times. I understand why many people didn't like it, especially the end, but after you watch it a few times (huge commitment) There aren't actually many unanswered or unexplained things in the show. It's all there, it's just very deep.
