I package up portions of granola with powdered milk, way less trash and cheaper than the MH granola and just as tasty. 1 cup of granola and 1/3 cup powdered milk is 500 calories. Luke calls it "glorious cereal" and has refused any other kind of breakfast this season :)

When weight allows bagels with a packet of peanut butter are good.

If going for a hot meal, I like instant grits with some bacon bits stirred in too.

yep...throw some dried cherries and/or cranberries in there too!

Strange food...I made pumpkin pie bark in my dehydrator and tested it on hikes over the spring and summer. It takes some getting used to, but worked for me due to my Paleo semi keto adapted lifestyle. This is not a food system you can live with in season only. It's an all year long health improvement lifestyle. And no I do not eat this all year, just tested it out for this season.

My sheep hunt breakfasts consisted of 2oz pumpkin bark and 2oz of coconut meat with a via coffee. About 400 calories. Some mornings I ate an ounce or two of caribou jerky. It kept water and fuel use down to a minimum, but was a little heavier than a wheat based food system.

I tried these bars this year and they are delicious and 600+ calories each. https://bigsurbar.com

I am also a fan of granola over oatmeal. You can eat granola hot or cold and instead of milk I put a scoop of protein powder in it.

2 packs Carnation instant breakfast mixed/shook with 2-4 packs instant coffee in a Nalgine bottle filled with boiling water and I am good for breakfast on the go. Virtually no clean up. Then a Breakfast bar for a snack after the morning assent/hike.
