for reference, I love peak refuel dinners….


Besides not having an appetite at elevation, I can’t chew on classic mountain “breakfast” meals. Granola/oatmeals/skillets of the dehydrated variety just taste aweful.

Something similar to regular Cereal and milk is the taste and texture I’m looking for. Any tips?
 
I feel you, I'm the same way. I manage to choke down a few clif bars and try and eat something more substantial later. Not a breakfast guy normally but especially not in the mountains. Only thing we typically heat up is water for coffee.
 
Breakfast is the hardest meal and I just plan on not enjoying it! I never eat breakfast at home either.

I pound water/coffee/electrolytes and eat some type of bar(s) just to get a few hundred calories in me! I pack real/more enjoyable food for later in the day.
 
I generally skip it. Everythings usually frozen in the morning anyway. I do really enjoy the peak fruit granola packs. They are basically candy.

Otherwise, I just stuff cliff bars / candy bars / candy inside my jacket and snack it up till lunch time.
 
Following this one. I eat oatmeal with 1/4 cup butter in it. I mix up my own baggies with some cinnamon and flax seeds and dried apples or whatever so it doesn't have so much salt and sugar compared to the store bought packets. But I get sick of it.
 
Take cereal and powdered milk in prepackaged ziplocks?
Yep!
We do cereal all the time, usually Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Raisin Bran Crunch with a scoop of vanilla protein powder and/or dried milk in a quart freezer ziploc.
Also do chocolate granola with chocolate protein powder and milk.
 
I also struggle with breakfast food. I do really like the taste of Angry Pika granola. When it's early season I eat it cold and late season I'll add hot water and easy while I'm glassing. The Carmel apple is my favorite and reminds me a bit like apple pie. https://angrypikafood.com/
The monster cookies are the best and have a lot of calories. I usually split the package into two days

Cereal causes way too much of a crash for me to be eating it on the mountain - my body just does a lot better with slower-burn foods, and a mix of them, in order to have a steady energy supply up to lunch.

Something I picked up overseas, is a mix of simple things for breakfast that we don't typically think of as breakfast foods. Some slices of denser breads or flatbread types of things, with cheeses, dipped in a little honey, with different kinds of sausage links or types of salami slices, can be pretty good for getting you going and keeping you going. At least it does for me. Not really a cereal replacement, but offering it up as rando info that might be useful at some point.
 
Muff balls (smashed costco muffins) plus a protein source have become a go to for me. >110-120 cal per ounce. Big fan of the Minimus nutrition cocao dust too but can't get it anymore.
 
Heathers Choice Swiss Style Muesili goes down pretty easy early in the morning. I add a packet of ghee for more fat and 10g of creatine for cognitive focus. I seldom have any issue finishing it.

Another instant oatmeal recomendation. Nature's Path Organic Maple Nut Instant Oatmeal is my go to. It's cheap and doesn't take hardly any hot water to make either, so not a suck on water rations when water is scarce.
