Braggin Board for Fishing!

I know fishing goes hand in hand with hunting and I am honestly surprised that there isn't a "braggin board" for it so lets see those fish! Any catch from a dink to a monster post it up! Tell us how, where, method, lure, fly and whatever else you want too! Ill start it off, I love bass fishing and that's honestly what I spend most of my weekends doing. I am blessed and cursed to live in So Cal but this is one of the few blessings. Took a break from bass fishing but getting back into it again. I forgot how much money I had dumped into gear…. I had 40 bags of unopened plastics

I dang near strictly fish for catfish. Channel cats to fill the freezer and giant flatheads for fun. I only run a Passive limb line set. 10 foot of 250lb test line with a two ounce barrel sinker attached to a heavy swivel. Then a 9 inch leader and a 8/0 double action hook. I’ll use cut bait or small live bream for bait. But I’ve found bullheadcatfish to be deadly on big flatheads. Plus, the bullheads seem to stay alive in the hook a bit longer.

This isn’t glamorous, it’s generally quite gross and filthy. It isn’t “sporting” and you’re not ripping lips. I do this to fill freezers and take the burden off people I care about. I don’t have a lot of money, otherwise I’d make all my friends and neighbors millionaires. But I have an excessive amount of time and like giving catfish away to people who aren’t able to get on the river.

Catching fish on set lines is totally sporting in my book. Just like trapping.

Any hardcore striped bass fly fishermen here? That’s a trip that’s on my radar sooner than later. I’ve never fished the west coast other than some ponds in New Hampshire like 25 years ago.

Ideally both but I’d be happy with either. I’ve just never done any real beach fishing other than catching tailing bonefish in the mornings before heading out.

The end of April and first half of May (before paddlefish snagging season started) were pretty good fishing for us on the Yellowstone River. We were having 50 fish days on mixed bags of sauger, walleye, channel cats, and sturgeon (Shovelnose and Pallid) up to 5 foot. We fished both during the day and at night using black lights.

That’s pretty cool man! No judgement here just a different style but it’s all part of catching fish! Thanks for sharing

That pic with the black light is super cool!

Anything that is a fluorescent color or has a UV paint will "glow" under UV "black" lights. It makes it just as easy to see a bite in the dark as it is in the daytime. Colored monofiliment glows well too. Best part is that the lights don't seem to attract insects like a natural white light. It's pretty fun.
