"Boy, I say boy, pay close attention to me“

I taught him what I knew, or what I thought I knew. And I guess he did pay attention

He went and scouted a new area Monday morning and saw a small herd not far from his house.

This morning, he went in there and sealed the deal all by himself.

Then he called Dad to come help him pack it out.
It took me over 3 hours to get there, climb the mountain and find him.

What a bull!!!

Proud dad for sure 👍

BTW - less than a mile from the truck on OTC public land.

Go Deep Boys. Go Deep

Excellent in so many ways!! Congrats to both of you 🙏🏻!! Great bull by the way……😊!

That is a heck of a bull anywhere. (IMHO)

Mind sharing how your son sealed the deal? Calling? No calling? Spot n Stalk?

Whatever he did was the right play!

I can tell what was told to me since I wasn’t there

Like mentioned earlier in this thread, my son and his wife spotted a small herd on Monday.
They had to work on Tuesday but made plans to take Wednesday morning off and go and see if they could find the herd again.

They got to the area before daylight, hiked part way up the mtn and heard the bull bugle off in the distance.

They made their way up just below the top and my son bugled. The bull immediately answered.

He told his wife “stay right here and don’t move”

He moved up a little more and bugled again. The bull answered closer.

He heard the bull coming through the trees and he ranged a tree that was about the distance he figured the bull would come and then he drew.

The bull was a little bit above him and came right by the tree he had ranged.

My son whistled at the bull and stopped him at 30yds.

Whack !

The bull took off and my son mewed and the bull stopped and then walked slowly over the ridge.

They waited 25mins before following the trail.
When they crested the ridge, the bull was laying just on the other side.
Didn’t go 60yds

That’s when I got the call ;)

Congrats that really awesome to see! What a dandy bull

I had 3 so hopefully at least one likes it enough to stick with it. And one day I’ll get the phone call to come pack out their bull.
