Been wanting to learn how to set up and tune my own equipment for awhile now.
I've been watching YouTube but wanted to see if there's a book or video that guys doing their own set up and tuning would recommend getting a hold of to read or watch? Or any other place to get info to help.

I've worked in a few shops and tuned bows for a long time and I'd say the best teacher is just putting a bow in a press, doing something and shooting it. So with all the new-fangled bows and crap you read on AT, I bought a bow tuning book to school myself up on the new stuff and I never cracked it open. Best teacher is on the job training or finding one or two guys you trust and talking to them.

But if you're starting at Square One and open to any info, send me your address and I'll send you this tuning book. It's unused.

You need to move to Anchorage so I can hang out in your garage and buy you beer and pick your brain! : ) (Assuming you would let me!) LOL

I agree with just doing it. Learning how to use a press is huge. You can do a lot of damage to a bow. There is a great book that you can download on at called the nuts and bolts of archery. Good info in there. Take information on at with s grain of salt. There is a lot of knowledge and good advice but I have found that there is more arguing about who is right and wrong than addressing the question asked. Also. You can drive yourself nuts trying to learn every little thing. The bow is a simple machine. Learn the basics, a few knots, and most importantly remember to have fun with it. I got to the point at one time I was not picking every little thing and got so fed up with archery I almost quit. I then began shooting for fun again and my groups tightened up and I became a better shot. Most of all I enjoyed the sport again.

Another vote for getting a press and getting after it! There is a lot of information out there so once you have a press AND a draw board then you are good to go and start learning. I'm no expert at all but I've learned to do a lot in the past few years by trial and error.

Right on guys! Thanks for the replies. Already building a diy draw board. And going to order an EZ press in the next week.

If you can wait on the press, last year LCA did a 12 days of Christmas thing and was selling greens for like $300. They might do it again this year.
