Bow Scale

Anyone have any recommendations on an accurate bow scale? The one I currently use gives me a completely different reading every time.

You need the one that you run on a board. The LCA one works fine.

LCA works well. Dig around and you can find it unbranded for half the price. Or support LCA business.

How different is "completely different"? My LCA scale will routinely vary by a pound or so on consecutive draws. Some of the variance is inherent to the scale, some is due to how fast you draw the bow.

It’s an LCA handheld scale and it will vary 2-3 lbs each time I use or it may change even more if someone else uses it. I get that how someone draws impacts it but I'm looking for something that is either more consistent or that I can hook to the draw board to try to eliminate that variable.

I have had issues with the LCA and the service was just to sell me another at a discount, pissed me off.



I have at least 6 scales, my preference is just a regular spring scale. It's pretty easy to check and isn't subject to different pull cycles. I have a short 70# spring scale that I like to use on my draw board. I don't usually shoot past that weight anymore.


I spend more time figuring holding weight than max weight anyways.

I should clarify, this was new old stock. Had been discontinued close to a year, guy I talked to on the phone seemed to laugh about it. Said where did you find that, we quit making that a year ago. Like it was a decade ago. I told him Lancaster.

I think LCA generally makes good products, but I haven't much cared for any of their electronic scales.

The hand scales can be difficult by hand pressure during the draw. Make sure you are even and consistent. But, there are plenty of scales you can attach to a draw board. I think Walmart had OMP on sale recently.
