I have a Hoyt RX3 and thinking of getting a hard side bow case for it. What case do you recommend? SKB , Pkano or others?

I recommend the pelican air. I’ve been blown away at the quality. Nothing in the market compares.

I looked at pelican, I would have to go with the ones lined with foam. No way I would trust it in the unlined “ compartment bags” cases. Found the skb on sale and all my other bows hav3 there own skb, I have no5 a problem with one yet, so the new prime will get a new green skb 4217.

Will be following this. I've got an old junk plano that gives me anxiety every time I put it in the truck. Time for an upgrade...

Yea

I like the “ rounded edges” of the pelican but I don’t like that non padded interior. They make them with solid foam or the pluck square type also. Nice cases but can’t find on sale and priced a bit higher the skb. Nice cases for sure. But never had an issue with an skb yet and the price is better. For the same price I would give a pelican a go though. Most of my bows have gone in an I series 4217DB, I go double as that way I can modify the foam and keep my quiver on and it has a lot of padding around it. I baby the hell out of my bows and guns. Lol

If it's just for the truck(not flying), I like the Lakewood case. When I come back at the end of the day and I'm cold I like that the bow just slides in from the top with the quiver attached.

I was skeptical of the small amount of foam, but with the way they have positions the bow tie down spots and the rigidity of the case I have no worries about anything happening. I’m pretty meticulous about keeping my stuff in good shape as well. Price is pretty rough though.

My pelican air had a huge chunk knocked out last flight and pelican denied all warranty claims. Good luck

No way, I would be pissed ! They say lifetime warranty and even cover goods in the case, bull shit if they don’t at least cover the case. Did anything inside get damaged ?

Nothing damaged. I used a skb bow case and after dealing with pelican I'm ordering the skb travel case as a replacement for my equipment travel

I also thought pelican offered a lifetime warranty but the pelican warranty is basically all smoke and mirrors actually covering very little. Go ahead read the small print.

Sitka nomad been excellent for about a dozen flights. Fo me it's the best option been I have significant amounts of gear. I also have an SKB, same deal about a dozen flight. Works fine except the latches suck. I drill and placed eyes though the case on both sides so I can add locks.
The SKB doenst hold near the amount as the nomad.

For me a nomad style case with a light weight soft case added is the best idea. Let's you add pile of gear and saves you a bag.

I don't think you can get much past 40 inches or so total length. I was using just a old cheap soft case that I had for years, might be an allen? Pretty sure they dont make it anymore.
I have also used the sitka bow sling cover. It covers the strings cams and sight. In honest it's more then enough with all my clothing for padding as well.

I should mention that the nomad is over sized by airline specs. Something like 6 inches over. I have never been dinged for an extra charge, I have also never packed it over weight. I have yet to see any luggage measured only weighted. All that said I expect to be dinged for a change at somepoint.

The pelican is a great case. I have a SKB case also and the lid has started to warp maybe because of the heat in the summer?

Since I've bought the Stika Nomad...my SKB double just gathers dust. I've had that Nomad on 3 continents, Alaska multiple times, etc...its awesome. I pack my bow in a cheap soft case in the bottom with all of my clothes on top. Nice to have the soft case when you get there- in supercubs, in vehicles, quads etc. Its amazing how much stuff I can get in that nomad. I did a complete Ak drop camp hunt- camp, hunt gear, food and all with only the Nomad and one duffle.

The cases like the Pelican are tanks- awesome cases for back of the truck type abuse...but when you are flying to hunt with a 24# case...you are using 1/2 the 50# weight allotment for gear. The Nomad is 11#, you can fill with 39# of gear....nice!.

As far a flying with them, I have used a hard golf bag case. Bow and a bunch of clothing fit in it. It don’t bring the “ attention” a std. bow case brings.
