Agreed! A bourbon group I'm a part of did a barrel pick this summer that I got to go on. Fabulous experience and the whiskey is excellent. These are hard to beat.View attachment 956117
My brother raves about this one. These are hard to beat.View attachment 956117
Its distinctive which probably leads to some people not liking it. McKenna is a weird one where I have some nights where it tastes amazing and others where its not my cup of tea and thats from the same bottle. I'd still recommend that its worth a try.I have heard very mixed reviews on the mckenna. Ranging from amazing to barely useable as a mixer. One day I will talk myself into trying it. You give me hope that its not as bad as people say.
I had the same experience with Heaven Hill BIB.Its distinctive which probably leads to some people not liking it. McKenna is a weird one where I have some nights where it tastes amazing and others where its not my cup of tea and thats from the same bottle. I'd still recommend that its worth a try.
This is a good one. I like the small batch also.I lucked into this today. Didnt know Elijah Craig had made a barrel proof rye. Apparently this is the first one. Im excited to try it one day. 12yrs for $87 is pretty decent price.

My buddy gave me a call, his barrel pick is in and he saved me a few bottles. Looking forward to cracking this one open.

Really enjoy Blanton’s Gold, but extremely difficult to find in Tucson, AZ! I’ll just keep watching and looking until I get lucky.I’ve had all the Pappy’s, they are over rated and so is Blantons. Blanton’s Gold is much better.
Weller 107, Old Forester 1920, and Wild Turkey Rare Breed are my favorites that one can find. Any EH Taylor small batch or my couple local store barrel picks are always excellent. Four Roses OSBO is my favorite of their ten.
Might be my new favorite. The Knob Creek bottle I got is no bueno though. Had to shift to a Bardstown Discovery, which is much better.

Yeah, with it being a good proof it has a lot of utility beyond drinking neat. Rare Breed saved the night for me this time; it’s become a good daily driver for me.Sucks about the knob. Next time my store does a pick I'll grab one for you. Single barrels can always have the possibility of missing. To be fair @Steve O turned me on to the discovery. I save bottles I dont like for mixers. coke zero covers up alot of bad bourbon. In fact I love wheaters in coke. I just dont like them neat.
