Bourbon

Picked up some early times. I'd say it's good for a mixer didn't like it straight. I also got some new riff. That is some good stuff.

And since everyone taste is different I think Buffalo trace is to sweet.
Really been liking all the heaven hill stuff lately

Fiancé wants to get me a really nice bottle. Her words are "$100 minimum" and "something you'd never buy for yourself." Anyone have any suggestions? I know this is a vague question as palettes and preferences are huge but I'm not too picky.

Shenks would be my choice if you can find a bottle. I've never found one other than a bar in town that keeps a bottle. Great sipping bourbon though and my unicorn bottle.

I have a soft spot for high wire. It is my favorite all corn whiskey.
left bottle is a single barrel 6 yr old cask strength
Middle is a 3 yr old cask strength
Right is bottled in bond (so at least 4 yr) at 100 proof.

I love all 3.

Question for the pros about storage. I'm slowly getting into the Bourbon thing and would like to keep - display them on a small table in my man cave. Any concern about exposure to light? I also have a wood stove and the temp varies quite a bit.

This thread needs another bump! So here's the news from the flooding in Kentucky, impacting Buffalo Trace this last week. Buffalo Trace flooding

I've been in Kentucky this past month and somewhat idly on the bourbon hunt. Was able to find some new and some harder to find.

A buddy got a case of Weller Special Reserve from his friend for some work he did for him. He sold me a few bottles for $35 a piece. Very competitive in my opinion in that $30-50 range. My favorite is still Wild Turkey Rare Breed Bourbon or Rye, but Weller is damn good too.

I’m very fortunate that a tiny local place gets great allocations.

Picked up some barrel proof Weller and Straight from the Barrel Blantons. The Weller is fantastic, the SFB Blantons will require a special occasion.

Anything at MSRP is great from Buffalo Trace, but it is pretty rare to get it at those prices.

The SFTB blantons is the only blantons I have had that I liked. And I have had the regular, red, black, green and SFTB. Mine is a caramel bomb and delicious but it does drink hot at 130 proof. I have alot of other 130-140 proof bottles that drink easier.
