I'm planning a Texas hog hunt this summer. What type of boots how much ankle support? I've never been to Texas I feel like it's going to be brutal chasing them pigs with my bow.

not much needed for ankle support, but protection from cactus is needed in some area, and snake boots will make the hunt more enjoyable but not necessary.
They can usually life flight you and end up saving your life once you get bit....

I wear my Chippewa boot year round. Even in the winter it only take an afternoon to warm up a touch and you will see a rattle bug out and about. If you are in an area with mesquite trees or cactus you will still want some Chips. Remember here it does not bit you it will poke you.

I like the chippewa slip on 17" snake boot. They sell for about $179-199. In the cooler season I wear the water proof ones as they have gore tex. My others have so much oil and what not they are pretty water proof. They are a bit stuff at first. Once you get them broke in they are some of the most comfortable boots I have owned. I have about 5 pair.

Even though this is way off topic would you recommend any day backs

If you're looking at something for a summer hunt specifically, I would get something that doesn't have a lot of contact with your back. Either a fanny pack (if you're not too cool for one ;)) or something like a Flash 20 from Sitka that the suspension keeps the back panel away from most of your back.

Even at night it will be nice and warm and during the day it will be hot and humid, so you're going to sweat a lot.

Just be prepared for the heat/humidity... Any good shoes. If you think snakes will be a problem then snake boots or chaps. I never wear snake boots, but being a native Texan I just learned to always watch the ground, be aware of my surroundings, and watch what I pick up off the ground. Take a good hat. Scentless sunscreen would be a good call. Take LOTS of water. Take electrolytes, like Gatorade or something to mix in your water. Badlands have some days packs that get the pack off your back a little bit, like the Ultraday. I had one but I think it's kind of gimmicky. Most lighter day packs should be fine. I'm hunting hogs in a couple weeks, luckily it's not hot yet!!

I personally don't use snake boots and never have. I am, however, extremely careful where I step and where I put my hand. I have never been bitten but I have come extremely close several times. Depending on what part of the state you are in, June, July & August are the times for the snakes and they are out there. Big ones and there are a lot of them. Use common sense and wherever you step, do it carefully and deliberately. Use whatever boots you have and you will be fine. Camo is not a requirement for piggies so don't sweat that.

If you are huting around cedar and it's summertime, do a tick check every night before you hit the rack.
