I've had extremely flat feet my whole life (I'm 34). Like walking on the inside of your ankle flat. Lately the pain has been nearly unbearable, especially upon first waking up. Its right along the inner ankle mostly, or the posterior tibial tendon. I just got home from the podiatrist who is putting me on a 3 week prescription of prednisone. Then come back and do a cast of the foot to make a custom orthotic insert. I feel like this is just putting a bandaid over the real issue. The doc says surgery is a 3 month recovery with pins, screws, and plates-reshaping the foot. I get it that they want to try the least invasive procedures before surgery, but I'm not real optimistic that putting something in my boots is going to help. Anyone with similar issues out there? Is there a certain footwear that has helped or that you'd recommend for my feet? I can't imagine being laid up for 3 months!!!

I gave up forcing the arch into my flat feet. Finally found insoles for flat feet from 10 seconds. They don't force an arch, just realign your ankle so it doesn't drop down. I also get stability shoes, although they don't really list them like that in boots. For boots and other shoes, I make sure they have removable inserts to swap them out.

Might be worth a shot for $20 before going a more drastic route.

I suffer some from foot pain but nothing to the extent of what you’re describing, also have flat feet. I tried superfeet, but they did not work for me. A local store carries Cadence Insoles and they worked perfect for me. I felt my ankles starting to roll to the inside of my boots before my hunt this year and Cadence after they would help. We did 50 miles in 4 days plus another 5 miles in every tough terrain you could think of going after elk in North Central Idaho a couple weeks ago and the Cadence blew me away. A++ on performance. Another great thing was the customer service. I initially picked up the wrong size and contacted Cadence to see what the difference was in the next size up. The owner of Cadence replied with a picture comparison of the two different sizes. He even made sure o received the new size through the local store before we left on our hunt.

If you contact Cadence through their website or by phone, I’m sure they will be able to tell you if they can help you out.

I've got the same issue. Its a curse. Curious to what you are currently doing and have found anything that helps even the slightest besides steroid shots and NSAIDs?
