Hey guys, I've come up with an elk tag in the Frank Church and want to get a head start on some boots.

I pretty much wear Hoka trail runners in 11.5. I've recently gone to the 2x Sheepfeet insoles, and while the Hoka's still fit, they are snug.

My toes can touch the nose of the shoe pretty easy. My foot on paper measures 11.5 from the tip of my big toe to the back of my heel.

For a mid cushion/thickness sock, along with the Sheepfeet, and considering the terrain I'll be hunting..

Should I be looking at 12's, or 12.5's?

Thanks for any advice

Thought I'd update for anyone who may have a similiar question. I mentioned the Hoka 11.5's bein a snug fit. I went with the Birksdal 12's so far.

i put about 25 miles on them, and thought I was good. I then covered about 6 miles that had a steep section, about 1100' total, with 57lbs.

On the downhill section my toes were getting hammered into the nose of the boot. I've ordered a pair of 12.5's and will update again when I get some good miles in them.

I saw this post and thought I might ask a few questions that could help a great deal. How did you measure your foot? Did you mark it with a pencil or did you just stand down on a ruler? How you take the measurement is going to greatly change the size selected. The other thing is using a ridged orthotic in A stiff boot can very much change the position of the foot causing a problem of toes hitting the end.

How is the fit going now?

Stood on a piece of paper and traced. Measured right at 11.5 IIRC.

I've seen that boot mentioned as narrow before. Maybe that had something to do with it. The 12.5's have been great, but I'm using Sheepfeet in them. I really think I've junked a lot of good boots due to insoles.

Thanks for your reply. I had considered your boots, but years of foot pain had me only buying boots when I could find them on clearance.

I'll keep y'all in mind for my next pair
